Weeds & Pests Control

Weeds Factsheets

Please note these Factsheets are from 2013 and some information, particularly herbicide information, may be out of date. Please ask local suppliers and do your own research in selecting herbicides if choosing chemical control. Other redundant information on the factsheets (names and contacts) have been blocked out. Our full list of local weeds and their control can be found here

Pest Animals

SGLN is working closely with South Gippsland Shire Council to improve the information and resources available for pest animal control. Keep track of our Events page or subscribe below to our newsletter for relevant events.

Information from our most recent pest control project can be found here

Deer

Feral deer are emerging as one of Australia’s most serious environmental and agricultural threats.

Foxes

In South Gippsland foxes are a CALP listed species which means land owners are legally required to undertake control.  Between 2020 and 2021, it was estimated that foxes cost Australia approximately $198 million in lost production. They are also believed to be the primary cause of a decline in numerous Australian small mammal species.

Rabbits

Rabbit populations are increasing across South Gippsland and for many residents they are the number one pest issue. Rabbits are a CALP listed species and property owners are legally required to undertake control
