SGLN NEWSLETTER MAY 2024

CHAIR REPORT

Congratulations to everyone who submitted a Victorian Landcare Grant application. There are some amazing projects being developed across the Network and I wish you all the best of luck.

We’ve had some great news our end: Council has allocated $50,000 towards a Memorandum of Understanding with SGLN in its draft budget. An MoU will formalise the close working relationship we have with Council and give us more flexibility to be proactive in areas where we share similar aims and objectives. Some that immediately spring to mind include pest plants and animals, encouraging the adoption of more sustainable farming practices and biodiversity protection.

The proposed Council budget and financial plan are available for community reviewhere until Sunday May 5. I encourage you to read these important documents and support SGLN by providing positive feedback about the MoU. You can even include suggestions for activities or projects that SGLN could deliver that will benefit the Council, community and environment.

More great news is that we are on the home run with our Biodiversity Protection Plan (see below). We’re now working towards developing a scientifically robust Biolinks Plan to guide future habitat creation and protection initiatives. If you, your business or employer would like to donate to this or one of our many other worthy causes, please visit this link.

Kind regards,

Jillian Staton
Chair
