SGLN UPDATE – MARCH 2026
February was a short month, but it was filled with progress.
It was great to meet with the local community at the Korumburra and Foster shows and to hear stories of biodiversity on local farms. Our capacity to share your good news stories will increase over the course of the year, so please send them in!
We met with our Biodiversity Protection Plan (BPP) stakeholders to review the progress of our Year 1 Actions and put forward our Year 2 priorities. While we’re often bombarded with negative headlines, it was heartening to see how much biodiversity work is being done quietly and without fanfare by our BPP partners across the region. I’m delighted that we’ll be bringing these stories together at our inaugural Biodiversity Forum. It will be a fantastic opportunity to hear from inspiring speakers, share ideas, and connect with others committed to protecting and enhancing local biodiversity.
The Tarwin River Partnership workshops facilitated by the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority and attended by many of our BPP partners are now bearing fruit. We have a range of projects on the table that are ripe for funding. You can invest in the future of the Tarwin River by donating to the South Gippsland Landcare Fund: We Love the Tarwin project. All donations are tax-deductible.
Kind regards,
Jillian Staton, Chair
