SGLN UPDATE – NOV 2025

SGLN UPDATE - NOVEMBER 2025

Our AGM and 30 year birthday celebration at Fleet Wines almost went off without a hitch*. It was great to have both Tom Mcintosh and Melina Bath in the audience along with many of the amazing volunteers featured in Our Quiet Achievers book, which you can purchase by emailing jane@sgln.net.au. We welcomed Peter Debreceny, Declan Macdonald and Jim Forbes to the board, and later that week, Dick Lester also expressed interest in joining meaning that we once again have a full board.

Late last month, Nick and I attended two events hosted by the West Gippsland Catchment Management Authority in relation to an integrated management plan for the Tarwin River. We are thrilled that things are moving along in this space, and look forward to brainstorming some ideas with members at the We Love the Tarwin Symposium on 8 November.
*In all the excitement, I forgot to ask members to vote on the honorarium for board members. The board proposes to keep the honorarium at $25, which is the amount it has been for several years. To the best of my knowledge, the honorarium has never been claimed while I have been on the board. Please let us know if you have any issues with the amount of the honorarium. If there are no objections, we will ratify the amount at our next board meeting.

Kind regards,
Jillian Staton, SGLN Chair
