SGLN UPDATE OCTOBER 2025

We have a few people to congratulate this month.
First, Stuart Inchley (who spoke at last year’s AGM), Victoria Johnson and the rest of the team at Tarwin Forest Guardians whose campaigning has encouraged HVP to return Fellas Coupe to conservation. Kudos, too, to HVP for listening to the community and taking such positive action, and to the South Gippsland Shire Council which also participated in the talks that led to the decision.
Second, Nick Stephens, whose presentation on technology and deer control was really well received at the National Landcare Conference last month. (You can see it yourself here.)
Third, all the people featured in the book Our Quiet Achievers – our tribute to some of the people who have contributed to Landcare in South Gippsland over the past 30 years. This stunning book which we are publishing with the help of both the Council and WGCMA, will be launched at our AGM and available to purchase. LVI’s Claire Hetzel is our guest speaker and we also have another surprise up our sleeve….
And, finally, a HUGE thank you to the Mirboo District Community Foundation which has donated $10,000 towards a Biolinks Map for South Gippsland. The support for this project continues to amaze us!

Kind regards,
Jillian Staton, SGLN Chair
