Biological control of Wandering Tradescantia (Trad)

South Gippsland Landcare Network (SGLN) is working with the Community Weed Alliance of the Dandenongs to disseminate cuttings of Wandering Trad infected with a smut fungus, which can be used as a biological control of this highly invasive weed.

The initial release in September 2021 has gone to five landholders in the SGLN area. We will be monitoring these sites to see how effective the fungus is in controlling infestations of Wandering Trad. Further releases are planned in 2022.
