SGLN FIELD DAY. WHY IMPROVE FARM DAMS?

Join us at SGLN’s next field day in Hallora on Thursday 30 March!

Come and hear Martino Malerba from Deakin University’s Blue Carbon Lab on how you can improve your dams, and improve water quality, increase biodiversity and reduce emissions.

We’ll visit a local dairy farm, see what’s been done to improve his farm dam and hear about the benefits he’s found. Plus hearing from Melbourne Water on opportunities for farm dam works.

Martino will be speaking on how enh1ancing farm dams:
– Improves water quality, and stock health
– Provides habitat for wildlife
– Reduces greenhouse gas emissions
We’ll also hear about opportunities for farmers to participate in Deakin’s upcoming farm dam research program.
We’ll visit local dairy farmer Glenn Duncan’s property, see what has been done to improve his farm dam and what are the benefits from
a farmers perspective.

We’ll also hear from Melbourne Water on opportunities for farmers to undertake works on their dams and waterways.
