South Gippsland Landcare invites you to our inaugural Deer Control Expo. 

Successful Deer Control: Insights from across Australia, Victoria and South Gippsland

Deer are a major threat to biodiversity and are damaging riparian areas by wallowing, destroying remnant vegetation and newer plantings. They also impact farmers, damaging fences, eating grass, crops, vines, and fruit. The increased risk of deer-related car accidents affects our entire community.

This expo will explore effective deer control and innovative approaches that active, invested community groups can implement.

We have a stacked line-up of presenters, including

• Jane McKenzie: National Deer Facilitator – Deer impacts and management approaches across Australia and statewide.
• Peter Jacobs: CEO, Victorian Deer Control Community Network – Environmental and agricultural impacts of deer in Victoria, current control and management methods, and benefits of community control groups
• Ben Grant and Ruby Wicks, Parks Victoria: The impacts of deer (and foxes) at Wilsons Prom. Parks Victoria’s deer control program and how they work with communities.
• Jillian Staton and Bruce Whittaker: Local landholders –  From desk jobs to deer controllers. How to lead the way in community-coordinated action on deer control.
• Leigh Francis: Commercial Harvester – Control advice, and how he works with local farmers
• Jason Flesch: Game Management Authority

Lunch and refreshments included – Venison will be on the menu! (as well as vegetarian options)
