Farm Walk : Creating Wetlands & Protecting Paddock Trees
June 16 @ 10:00 am - 1:00 pm

We are supporting a Poowong beef farmer with two on-farm demonstration sites: creating a wetland in a boggy paddock, and fencing a threatened Strzelecki Gum paddock tree.
Join us to see what’s planned for these sites and how we’re going about it — plus the chance to explore a sustainable, resilient, and productive farm in action.
What to expect
- Wetland Ecologist David Carew will walk us through the plan to transform a boggy, unproductive paddock into a seasonal wetland.
- Ecologist Alison Oates will guide you through identifying local eucalypts — including the threatened Strzelecki Gum and Southern Bluegum — and discuss the benefits of fencing off paddock trees for long-term shade and biodiversity.
- Property owner Scott Bentleigh will share his experience growing multispecies crops and integrating agroforestry on his property.
Lunch and refreshments included. Please notify us of any dietary requirements.
Address provided upon registration.
This event is supported by the Australian Government through the National Heritage Trust under the Climate-Smart Agriculture Program.
