SUMMARY:Staying Ahead of the Carbon Curve - Opportunities & Options for Low Emission Farming
DESCRIPTION:As markets\, banks and insurance companies seek to meet their carbon emission commitments\, farmers may need to start demonstrating low emission farming practices through their supply chain. \nJoin us for two practical and interactive workshops to find out what you need to know! On day 1 local soil scientist Declan McDonald will discuss how improving soil health also increases soil carbon. He’ll provide an introduction to the principles and practices of carbon farming. Farmers are encouraged to bring their questions and to discuss management challenges to prioritise carbon capture. \nLocal farmer and presenter Nick Dudley (who has worked for on carbon projects for Ag Vic) will cover: \n-How to calculate and track your farm’s emissions \n-Using carbon accounting tools \n-An intro to developing an on-farm emissions action plan \nOn Day 2 Nick Dudley will support participants to enter their farm details into a digital tool to calculate emissions and look at actions they can take on-farm to offset these. \nDeclan and Nick are both engaging speakers\, with 45 years of experience between them.\nFarmers should attend both sessions to get the full picture and make the most of this independent & free learning opportunity. \nWhen & where:\nDay 1 Thursday 11 September 10.15am\nregistration for 10.30 – 2pm\nLeongatha Memorial Hall \nDay 2 Thursday 18 September 10.30-1pm\nKorumburra Community Hub\nMorning tea and lunch provided both days. \nRegistration: Please register via this link\nMore information contact Cassie cassie@sgln.net.au 0448 739 559
