SUMMARY:Tree planting next to Giant Gippsland Earthworm colony
DESCRIPTION:Save our threatened species! Plant trees as part of a project to help Giant Gippsland Earthworm colonies. \nJoin Landcare at this tree planting field day which aims to put indigenous species back into these steep gullies\, next to where the threatened earthworms can be found. This is a modified planting method which plants next to (not on top of) the GGE colonies\, to avoid the risk of drying out the soil where GGEs are found. \nPlease note this planting site is uneven\, steep and may be slippery. A moderate level of fitness is required. \nIf you are looking for a planting day for small children our Pedal and Plant event will be a lot more suitable 🙂 \nRegister here \nMorning tea will be provided. \nPlease note there are no toilets on site. The site is at Ranceby\, 10min north of Korumburra. The address will be sent closer to the time. \nFor further info contact Cassie\, cassie@sgln.net.au\, 0448 739 559. \n

SUMMARY:Pedal & Plant 2025
DESCRIPTION:Join us to celebrate Landcare Week! Pedal\, walk\, hop\, skip or join a guided tour along the Great Southern Rail Trail for fun and tree planting at Ruby! \nSouth Gippsland Landcare Network and South Gippsland Shire Council are again partnering with Arawata Landcare Group for hours of fun planting 1500 indigenous trees\, shrubs and grasses by the side of the Great Southern Rail Trail. \nWe’ll meet at Ruby Hall and make our way by bike or guided walking bus to the planting site\, about 1.5 kilometres along the trail. We’ll learn about the native plants and animals already living along the rail trail as we walk. At the planting site\, there will be plant guards to decorate\, which will not only protect our seedlings from browsing animals but also form an outdoor art gallery. \nOur fabulous friends from Leongatha Rotary and Leongatha Lions Club will provide a tasty lunch afterwards. \nFor more information on South Gippsland Landcare Network please see: Home | South Gippsland Landcare Network\nFor more information on Arawata Landcare Group please see:  Arawata Landcare Group | Humanitix \nThis event has been made possible by the generous donations from the South Gippsland Seed Bank and SGLN Koala Fund. \nRegister at: https://events.humanitix.com/pedal-and-plant-2025 \n
