SUMMARY:Biolinks Map - online information session
DESCRIPTION:South Gippsland Landcare Network is excited to have started work on the South Gippsland Biolinks Map. This is a key action of the Biodiversity Protection Plan. \nWhen complete\, the Biolinks Map will be an online tool to help understand how native species move through our region. It will draw on a range of land cover and biodiversity datasets\, as well as stakeholder input\, to model areas of core habitat in the landscape\, and the pathways different species may use to move between them. This will give us a map showing the key locations and movement corridors across the region\, their relative importance and where opportunities exist to improve or establish pathways. \nThis will help to inform where on-ground action will have the most impact\, so we can focus our efforts in the most effective way. \nJoin us to meet James and Yasmin who are developing the map\, learn about how the biolinks map will be created and what it will look like\, and how you can get involved. \nmore info cassie@sgln.net.au \nRegistrations \nimage credit: Lechner 2017

SUMMARY:How to improve soil biology & provide feed in dry times
DESCRIPTION:With soil scientist Declan McDonald (and a visit to his farm) \nDeclan will discuss: \n\nThe importance of healthy soil biology for production \nMethods farmers can use to improve the health of their soil\nHow healthy soil functions during dry times\nOptions for dry conditions\, including de-stocking\n\nWe will also take a walk on his property in Kardella South\, where he’s used regenerative agricultural practices for 5 years. \nDeclan is a Principal Soil Scientist with ReGen Soils.  He has extensive experience working in agriculture and production horticulture. Skilled in Regenerative Agriculture Declan has worked closely with farmers and other land managers on a range of projects with Landcare and Producer groups. \nLunch included \nPlease register https://events.humanitix.com/sustainble-agriculture \nMore info Cassie@sgln.net.au

SUMMARY:Enhancing Farm Dams for biodiversity and stock water quality
DESCRIPTION:  \nJoin this free event to learn more about the benefits of enhancing your farm dam\, for water quality and stock health\, and also for wildlife. \nWetland Ecologist David Carew will discuss which plant species to use and how  you can create spaces that attract and support aquatic life (including frogs!).  \nDeakin Uni student Mica McCulloch will present preliminary findings on water testing done in farm dams in South Gippsland  \nProperty owner Patrick will share his dam case study project activities\, including propagating species for revegetation. We’ll visit the farm to see what’s been done\, and hear from David about his advice for landholders on how to  enhance their farm dams. \nTo register https://events.humanitix.com/greening-dams-a-case-study \nThis project is funded by Food & Fibre Gippsland through the Victoria Drought Resilience Adoption and Innovation Hub. This the second round of this project. The full case study from round one can be read here. \nMore information email kirby@sgln.net.au
