SUMMARY:Great Victorian Koala Survey
DESCRIPTION:Where – Wonthaggi Reserve\nMeeting point – End of Reed Cr turn left and park in car park. Easy walking. Toilets available.\n\n\nTime: 10am to 2pm. RSVP not required. You do not need to stay for the whole day. You are welcome to just stay for the discussion and instructions at the start.\n\nWhat to bring/wear: Please wear long pants and boots and gators if you have them as there is a high snake risk at this time of year. Please wear a hat and sunscreen. Please bring some lunch/snacks and water. You will also need your phone to log GPS coordinates of any scats found.\n\n\n\nPlease not this not a Landcare Event.   If you’d like to know more\, contact Kelly Smith from Federation University via the email below. \n\nkellyj.smith@federation.edu.au\nor 0432 530 443.\n\n\nEach day will start out with a brief discussion about koalas and the importance of this study. Then we will talk about what koala scats look like and how to find and collect them. After this we will split into groups and walk along the walking tracks looking for signs of koala. At times we will need to go off the walking track into the bush to collect the scats. Some areas of the bush will be quite dense and there is a high snake risk so a high level of caution and fitness is required if going off the track. Volunteer sessions are open to all levels of fitness and to children. There is no maximum number of attendees
