DESCRIPTION:Discover the beauty of Wuchatsch Reserve\,  home to many unique and incredible orchids that are not always easily seen. \nREGISTER HERE \nLed by South Gippsland Shire Weeds Education Officer Amanda Christie\, during this walk we will explore the reserve and learn about the orchids\, other native flora and the weeds that can threaten them. Maybe we will even learn how to pronounce Wuchatsch! \nWhile we wander around the walking path for those that are able and willing\, we will do some easy hand weeding. \nAmanda has extensive knowledge of native plants and weeds and can also offer weed control advice for your property. \nWhat to expect on the day \n\nWalking approximately 1.5 kms at a slow and easy pace\nEasy hand weeding (optional)\nHelp with plant and weed ID\nMorning tea\n\nPlease wear sturdy footwear and long pants. Please bring gardening gloves\, hand trowel and a keep cup for tea/coffee \n

DESCRIPTION:South Gippsland Landcare invites you to our inaugural Deer Control Expo.  \nSuccessful Deer Control: Insights from across Australia\, Victoria and South Gippsland \nDeer are a major threat to biodiversity and are damaging riparian areas by wallowing\, destroying remnant vegetation and newer plantings. They also impact farmers\, damaging fences\, eating grass\, crops\, vines\, and fruit. The increased risk of deer-related car accidents affects our entire community. \nThis expo will explore effective deer control and innovative approaches that active\, invested community groups can implement. \nWe have a stacked line-up of presenters\, including \n\nJane McKenzie: National Deer Facilitator – Deer impacts and management approaches across Australia and statewide.\nPeter Jacobs: CEO\, Victorian Deer Control Community Network – Environmental and agricultural impacts of deer in Victoria\, current control and management methods\, and benefits of community control groups\nBen Grant and Ruby Wicks\, Parks Victoria: The impacts of deer (and foxes) at Wilsons Prom. Parks Victoria’s deer control program and how they work with communities.\nJillian Staton and Bruce Whittaker: Local landholders –  From desk jobs to deer controllers. How to lead the way in community-coordinated action on deer control.\nLeigh Francis: Commercial Harvester – Control advice\, and how he works with local farmers\nJason Flesch: Game Management Authority\n\nLunch and refreshments included – Venison will be on the menu!
